San Francisco's most often chosen destination is Fisherman's Wharf. Home of excellent dinning, as you walk the wharf during the day your mouth will water at the smell of the succulent Dungeness crab. The smell of the fine seafood that you may sample fades to the aroma of San Francisco's famous Sourdough bread as you wonder to one of several locations that are in the vicinity. Fisherman's Wharf Tours are a great way to take in the entire wharf during a visit, both historic and fun. However, within a short walk of the wharf are many San Francisco travel options.
Ghirardelli Square is just across the street from the wharf. Home to Ghirardelli Chocolate's flagship location, the chocolate giant has been in San Francisco since 1852. They moved to the present location in 1895 and the history is rich in its present location. One can sample chocolates and ice cream on breaks from the many attractions of the Wharf. Although it is not the only option to explore in the famous square, it is a destination to not miss.
Pier 39 is also within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf attractions. Home to 110 shops and several bay front dining choices the location offers post card views of the Bay. The Golden gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Bay Bridge are all part of the panorama of photo opportunities. Family attractions are available in both locations; therefore, the Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 pass is great for saving money and a San Francisco travel option to consider.
To fill the time other notables in the area include the National Liberty Ship Memorial (the S.S. O'Brien), the Aquarium of the Bay, Anchorage Square, and just a few blocks away is the home of the world champion San Francisco Giants! You are also going to find talented and unique street performers that appear daily, providing one of a kind entertainment opportunity as a portion of a well-rounded day.
The San Francisco travel options are so many. This is just a small portion of the beautiful city and what is available. Fisherman's Wharf attractions are activities not to miss, for sure, but it is not all that the City by the Bay has to offer and I look forward with pleasure at the opportunity to share with all, my favorite big city, in future writings.
